Operations Manager
Position Overview
Buyer II (Field) performs duties in purchasing, including bid solicitation, bid analysis, negotiation, commitment of purchase orders, and expediting the products/materials to site. Responsibilities also include administration of purchase orders following commitments involving scope changes, invoicing, and purchase order closeout. The position is part of the MIC field‑based construction team, providing commercial support to the assigned project, and reports to the assigned Field Procurement Manager or onsite Construction Manager.
Location& Travel Details
This is a traveling position, up to 100% of the time. You may be placed on a project site located in any state throughout the U.S. You’ll spend 8–18 months on average per project. The position offers designated per diem in addition to base pay, and includes mobilization support with monthly rotations.

- Work closely with the assigned procurement team to purchase the highest quality equipment and materials at the lowest possible cost, in correct amounts, per specifications and drawings.
- Learn processes around the research and evaluation of suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.
- Prepare and issue Request for Proposal (RFP) equipment/material packages to qualified suppliers.
- Work with engineering to answer all RFP questions presented by suppliers.
- Receive and evaluate proposals against RFP requirements, evaluate pricing structure, delivery time frames and modifications to terms and conditions.
- Negotiate best and final pricing from selected short‑listed suppliers.
- Ensure that the company does not enter into any agreement with an external party which may harm the company’s policies and practices by performing due diligence and following vendor pre‑qualification process.
- Work closely with field engineering, the material control team, home office procurement department, and accounts payables.
- Secure a completed purchasing requisition with final engineering documents, arrive at a mutually agreed set of terms and conditions and conform all purchase order exhibits/attachments.
- Monitor, support, and administer all issued field purchase orders.
- Manage stakeholder and supplier interaction within the boundaries of company policy, ensuring adherence to processes and audit compliance.
- Promote a positive work environment, exhibit a spirit of cooperation and support for coworkers, and maintain professionalism within the organization and when interacting with internal customers, external suppliers and business partners.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years of experience in procurement (preferably within the construction or engineering industry).
- Four‑year college degree in a business‑related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
- Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
