OverviewSyska Hennessy Group is seeking an experienced Senior Plumbing-Fire Protection Engineer to join our Washington, DC office. We are a global leader in consulting, engineering, and commissioning services with expertise in MEP, information and communication technology, architectural lighting, vertical transportation, and commissioning.
We are looking for an individual who brings extensive experience in plumbing and fire protection design, is comfortable coordinating with multiple disciplines, and can communicate design concepts through drawings and specifications.
Responsibilities- Perform design engineering and provide system design support by working closely with all MEP disciplines to assure well-coordinated designs.
- Consult and interface with clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
- Conduct field surveys, system assessments, and system commissioning.
- Attend coordination meetings and job sites.
- Perform calculations under Senior Engineer/Designer.
- Produce clear and concise drawings consistent with client requirements and firm standards.
- Apply Codes and Standards to all designs (including working drawings and specifications).
- Conduct peer reviews and provide QA/QC oversight.
- Assist in business development by expanding current client relationships, cross-selling Syska services, and attending industry events.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Protection, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8+ years of field experience with Fire Protection and Fire Alarm System design and Fire/Life Safety consulting.
- Knowledge of ICC, NFPA and Local codes and standards; knowledge of NYC codes required.
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm or Fire Protection systems preferred, or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire.
- Multistate licensure preferred, or ability to obtain within 2-4 years of hire.
- Ability to achieve security clearance from Federal Government (project-specific).
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
- Willingness to travel to various project locales and meet project deadlines.
- Experience using AutoCAD-MEP and REVIT to develop designs.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communications skills.

Washington, DC pay range: $99,255 - $138,882 USD
