Job Title:

Field Engineer - Tailings and Earthworks

Reporting directly to the Field Engineering Manager, or their delegate, the Field Engineer - Tailings & Earthworks will provide on‑site technical support, working closely with the construction team, contractors and the liaison between the field and the home office teams. The primary focus for this role will be supporting the construction of the Tom Mac Kay Storage Facility and associated projects.

The individual will be part of a team dedicated to ensuring the engineering design is properly interpreted and installed  Field Engineer will work in close coordination with the Qualified Person and Engineer of Record for tailings and dam facilities, ensuring that all observations and findings are documented and addressed promptly.

The Field Engineer - Tailings and Earthworks will collaborate closely with contractors, interpret drawings and specifications for field crews, and provide inputs into detailed work plans and packages. Additionally, duties may include managing material orders and deliveries and working closely with the completions and turnover teams.

Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To) Field Coordination & Communication
  • Provide field engineering support, working closely with field engineering, site construction teams, contractors, and acting as liaison with home office teams.
  • Collaborate with contractors and Engineer of Record (EOR) to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly execution meetings.
Technical Review & Documentation
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and survey data.
  • Support development of redlines and as‑built documentation.
  • Provide input into daily reports.
Project Planning & Management
  • Complete project management activities including planning, scheduling, coordination meetings, and RFIs.
  • Develop work packages to support construction.
  • Assist with quantity tracking, cost control, and change order documentation.
Construction Monitoring & Compliance
  • Conduct routine inspections of dams and tailings storage facilities to verify compliance with design, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report on construction progress, identifying risks and delays.
  • All other duties as reasonably assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Education / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • P.Eng registration with EGBC is preferred
Experience / Skills
  • Minimum of 2-4 years mining or heavy construction experience
  • Experience with dams and tailings storage facilities is preferred
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Collaborative team player with an exceptionally proactive mindset
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving skills and comfortable making recommendations
  • Capability to work in a self‑directed manner and possess good time management skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to support reporting, and communication between various stakeholders
  • Highly self‑motivated and ability to work with minimal guidance
  • Must be able to work a rotational schedule in a remote mining camp
Work Location & Conditions

This is a site‑based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.

The Eskay Creek Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site…
