About the Opportunity
AM2 Geotechnical Inc. is looking for a full‑time Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer based in Whitehorse, Yukon. The position offers full flexibility to work from home once you are settled in the region, and candidates may begin remotely while arranging their move.
Reporting to the President, you will support field programs, design work, and project coordination while contributing to a small team that relies on sound judgment and steady communication.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for carrying out geotechnical investigations, technical analysis, and project delivery for clients across the Yukon and Northern Canada.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing field investigations, drilling programs, site reviews, and construction monitoring
- Carrying out geotechnical analysis for permafrost, foundations, earthworks, geohazards, and related northern conditions
- Building clear recommendations through reports, design input, and technical evaluations
- Coordinating with contractors, clients, First Nations, municipalities, and consultants
- Guiding junior staff and contributing to their development
- Managing project schedules, communication, and documentation
- Completing lab work, materials testing, and slope stability modelling using industry software
- Supporting remote‑site logistics and short field rotations during construction season
- Shifting between office tasks and field needs as priorities change throughout the year
- Preparing for upcoming field seasons through planning, scope development, and equipment coordination
- Taking part in internal discussions about workflow, operational decisions, and project direction
About You
To qualify, you will need active registration as a P.Eng in Canada, along with a bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, and ideally 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
The following are required:
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Comfort driving full‑size pickup trucks
- Willingness and ability to travel for field work ranging from single‑day trips to multi‑day or week‑long remote rotations during the construction season
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Broad experience across field investigations, materials testing, and site reviews
- Skill with slope stability modelling software such as Geo Studio or Rocscience
- GIS‑related experience, including mapping, air photo interpretation, or spatial analysis
