The Senior Structural Engineer opportunity is with an international consulting firm working on projects across the US and Canada.
The Engineer leads engineering design solutions that align with the context, budget, and aesthetic requirements of building projects. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to analyze and interpret design intent to deliver efficient and effective technical design solutions. They will collaborate closely with other professional disciplines, ensuring seamless coordination throughout all project phases, leveraging their expertise in building engineering systems, materials, codes, and construction technologies.
The Engineer should be Toronto-based but this is a remote/work from home position.
Salary: $120 000 to $140 000, plus bonus
Logistics: Remote (Toronto-based)
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Designing various components of building structures, integrating architectural design while adhering to relevant codes and jurisdictional requirements
- Assessing engineering design requirements and producing detailed drawings to support construction projects
- Conducting engineering tasks such as calculations, code research, material and building systems research, component layout, and area calculations
- Evaluating existing conditions and conducting construction reviews to document new conditions accurately
- Synthesizing and coordinating technical information to develop engineering specifications for Project Manuals
- Review project products, services, and shop drawings to ensure compliance with project documents, applicable codes, and corporate quality controls
Here's what you'll need:
- Proficiency with finite element structural design software such as SAP
2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM and working knowledge of Revit Structure, BIM 360, and Bluebeam - Strong knowledge of building structural systems and various building types
- Familiarity with with architectural design concepts and building codes
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering from an accredited university, preferably with coursework in concrete, steel, and wood design and exposure to structural dynamics, seismic response, and seismic design
- 7-15+ years of project work experience
- Registration with a relevant professional engineering association
- Experience in designing various structural engineering building systems to Canadian codes and standards.
