Your Role
About the Role

As Engineering Team Lead, you will guide a team of engineers delivering ICT capabilities for the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System and related programs.

Working at the heart of the engineering lifecycle, you’ll lead the design, delivery, acceptance and sustainment of complex products, partnering closely with Solution Architects to establish and mature the product baseline.

You’ll apply engineering principles to develop robust designs, calculations and technical solutions, lead multi-domain investigations and risk assessments, and make informed engineering decisions across the product lifecycle.

Alongside planning and monitoring team outputs to time, cost and quality, you’ll ensure compliance with standards, safety obligations, trade controls and HSE requirements, while driving continuous improvement and supporting successful bids and business growth.

About You

An experienced engineer with strong domain knowledge, you bring the confidence to make sound technical judgements in complex environments.

You’ve led technical investigations, produced and reviewed high-quality documentation, and understand the design, analysis, manufacturing and support considerations that shape successful outcomes.

Comfortable operating with autonomy, you take ownership of decisions and understand the product safety implications of your work.

You foster high-performing teams, build strong working relationships across disciplines, and communicate technical information clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

With a commitment to professional growth and knowledge sharing, you champion best practice, uphold statutory and regulatory compliance, and embed strong engineering governance to deliver safe, innovative and sustainable solutions.

To be successful in this position you will bring:

An engineering qualification in electronics, electrical, communications, systems, ICT or a related discipline.

Relevant experience in relatable technical/engineering roles.

An understanding of applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software).

Demonstrated systems engineering experience coupled with preference for engineering experience in ICT, communications, electronics, or other relevant discipline.

Experience in requirements definition, interface definition, subsystem design, installation supervision, set to work, and commissioning.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team to achieve desired results.

An understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle.
