B&W Canada is currently seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Field Service Engineer.
Job Description Summary
A Field Service Engineer works independently or alongside senior engineers to perform inspections, tuning, operational audits, and pre-commissioning testing on boilers and environmental equipment, as well as preparing estimates and proposals. This position requires extensive travel (approximately 90%) including driving on client/customer property.
Field Service is a fast‑paced role that offers significant job variety. Entry‑level engineers will work closely with senior engineers and the District Engineer. The work provides a challenging and rewarding experience with a steep learning curve, allowing engineers to develop practical knowledge of power plants and all aspects of B&W products.
Specific Duties
Collect and evaluate field data
Prepare technical reports, including service and special reports
Work as part of commissioning teams during project startups
Perform site activities such as boiler inspections, condition assessments, and boiler operation evaluations
Provide construction technical support and outage management
Prepare estimates and proposals for equipment upgrades
Collaborate with customers, account executives, vendors, and subcontractors, with guidance from the District Engineer or a senior engineer
This position primarily services Nova Scotia, with travel to other provinces as required. The incumbent will work from the B&W FPS Dartmouth office and may work from home ensive travel (approximately 90%), sometimes on short notice, is required.
Qualifications
Education and/or Relevant Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or 5-7 years of relevant experience in lieu. A candidate from the Engineering profession is preferred.
