Balfour Beatty Power T&D is seeking a Site Engineer OHL Pre Con / Scaffolds to support the delivery of works on the BTNO project
. Based at our BTNO Project Office in Assington, Suffolk
, you will work alongside the Project Manager / Project Director and wider project team, taking accountability for the successful delivery of works across planning, design, delivery, monitoring, commissioning and handover/close out.
This is a key role within our Overhead Line (OHL) team, ensuring engineered solutions are fully understood, effectively briefed, and delivered safely, sustainably, on programme and within budget.
What you'll be doing- Monitor progress and implement Short Interval Control processes/hold weekly meeting
- Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations
- Coordinate with other project activities and internal functions
- Attend periodic project reviews / project meetings
- Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
- Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholder
- Helps to ensure reports provide relevant information to enable informed, cost-effective decisions in line with overall strategy
- Helps to ensure scope and package assignment supports the team in coordinated working
- Specify, understand and implement technical information and drawings into delivery
- Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
- Responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain
- Support periodic Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety initiatives
- Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and suggest improvement solutions
- Write and understand RAMS
- Identifying, raising and reporting risks and hazards
- Support incident and H&S responses
- Understand, control and issue safety documentation
- Completion of audits
- Setting people to work
- Log and escalate any issues that cannot be resolved at delegated level of authority
- Management of subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved
- Help to ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines
- Follow targets/KPIs in line with project objectives and monitor performance
- Help to ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings
- Contribute towards workshops that cover the principles of continuous improvement
- Help to develop, implement and periodically update resource loaded schedules
- Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls technique
- Awareness of cost / budget
- Awareness of commercial impact
- Escalation of commercial change
- Requestion of plant and materials
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Experience in implementing safe systems of work
- Experience in managing risks and change processes
- Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts
- Proficient in commercial/project management communications
- Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation
- Good interpersonal skills that enable working relationships to be developed at all levels across the business and be able to negotiate and influence
- Able to undertake work in high pressure situations with a flexible attitude
- A record of a solutions-based approach to problem solving
- Demonstrate awareness and support of the benefits of diversity and inclusion
- Identify and drive personal development
- Proficient on O365
- Holds or working towards a formal qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Holds CSCS and SSSTS or equivalent
