Welty Energy is looking to add an Engineering Designer I to our team! As an Engineering Designer, you will be an integral member of the Electric Substation Design Team responsible for providing design and CAD services on substation projects.

This role is expected to work in our Merrillville, IN office mirroring EST working hours. The role may be considered for a remote position for the right candidate.

• Prepare substation and electrical design packages in accordance with client standards, based on direction and engineering inputs. Designs may include, but are not limited to:
• Single-line diagrams
• AC and DC schematic diagrams
• Physical layout designs
• SCADA system designs
• Wiring diagrams
• Develop complete construction drawing packages, including precise installation details and supporting documentation.
• Ensure all project deliverables comply with applicable client standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Utilize client-approved software systems and drawing management platforms to manage, track, and update documents checked out by Welty.
• Provide consultation, technical support, and design insight for internal Welty projects at the request of the Leadership Team.
• Collaborate closely with Engineers, Project Managers, and other team members to support efficient project execution and timely delivery of design packages.

• Associate's degree in drafting or equivalent technical program.
• 3-6 years of experience designing utility substations or transmission projects utilizing AutoCAD and/or Micro Station.
• Relevant experience on brownfield substation design, focused on 12kV to 230kV preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective organizational skills.
• Be able to travel 0-5% of the time based on business needs.
