Position: Mechanical Engineer Sr Staff

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer in support of development, design, and mechanical integration of components/systems you’ll work on a broad range of projects that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.

In

this role you will:
  • Work on a cross‑functional team in the development of overall space vehicle
  • Ensure design meets all required specifications and integrates at top assembly level
  • Produce detailed 3‑D models, drawings, and tolerance analyses as required
  • Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions
  • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports. Present this information to customers, subcontractors, and internal LM stakeholders.
  • Lead technical projects and conduct meetings with internal engineering teams, customer representatives and external suppliers to meet program objectives
We’re looking for:
  • A self‑starter who develops solutions to technical issues
  • A motivated individual who can work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues
  • Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines
  • Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums including supplier interface
  • The ability to work with management and program representatives at several levels
  • Technical leadership of small teams or projects
  • Proven ability to communicate key project information or recommendations to program management and /or customers
Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in mechanical engineering
  • Experience with design of space structures
  • Experience with CAD design
Desired

Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science or higher from an accredited college in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education
  • Prior experience as an engineering tech lead, IPT lead or engineering manager
  • Working knowledge of CREO
  • Working knowledge of EPDM tools or equivalent
  • Exposure to DFx Principles (Design for Affordability, Design for Manufacturability, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and with adjacent disciplines
