Overview

Seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a unique water/wastewater construction project in the Grand Canyon, overseeing execution through commissioning and closeout. The ideal candidate brings strong water/wastewater PM experience, high administrative rigor, and willingness to travel to a remote site on a recurring cadence.

Must Haves
  • Proven senior-level project management experience delivering water and/or wastewater construction projects from pre‑construction through commissioning and closeout
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex mechanical and process scopes including equipment installation, startup, and commissioning coordination
  • Willingness and ability to travel to a remote job site in the Grand Canyon region on a recurring cadence
  • Strong cost control and project financial management skills including budgeting, forecasting, change management, and pay application support
  • High administrative rigor with excellent documentation habits, attention to detail, and discipline around submittals, inspections, safety, and required signatures
Nice to Haves
  • Federal project experience with familiarity navigating strict documentation, inspection, and billing requirements
  • Experience working as a general contractor and/or subcontractor on municipal public works or industrial water/wastewater projects
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or an engineering/Construction Management degree
  • Experience supporting remote travel teams and rotation‑based staffing models including per diem, housing, and flight logistics
  • Background on projects in the $5M–$30M range with exposure to larger, multi‑phase scopes
  • Experience working in challenging terrain or restricted‑access sites where material movement and sequencing are non-standard
Responsibilities
  • Lead project execution for a high‑profile water/wastewater construction scope in the Grand Canyon region, driving the work through final construction, commissioning, and closeout
  • Build and maintain a clear execution plan covering scope, schedule, procurement, staffing rotations, and logistics for a remote‑access environment
  • Coordinate commissioning activities to ensure systems start up safely, perform as designed, and meet turnover and acceptance requirements
  • Manage budget performance including forecasting, cost‑to‑complete, contingency strategy, and timely identification of risks and opportunities
  • Oversee change management from identification through pricing, documentation, negotiation, and final incorporation into the project
  • Maintain impeccable project documentation and compliance including submittals, RFIs, quality records, inspection readiness, and required approvals to avoid payment delays
  • Partner with field leadership to maintain safe work practices and ensure safety requirements, audits, and reporting are executed consistently
  • Drive communication and alignment with the prime contractor, client‑side stakeholders, vendors, and subcontractors to keep work progressing smoothly
  • Lead procurement and vendor coordination to ensure materials, equipment, and fabricated components arrive on time and meet site constraints
  • Anticipate and solve logistical challenges by planning packaging, transport, staging, and reassembly strategies to prevent costly rework or missed flights/rotations
  • Provide regular, clear reporting to internal leadership on schedule status, cost trends, risk items, and upcoming decision points
  • Support a team‑first culture focused on long‑term fit, strong relationships, and delivering quality work without “cowboy” project controls
