Director of Commercial Engineering

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Director of Commercial Engineering based in the Greater Toronto Area, with flexibility for occasional remote work.

The Director of Commercial Engineering will lead the technical-commercial development of battery energy storage projects for commercial and industrial clients. Responsibilities include conducting technical site assessments, leading utility and interconnection coordination, developing system configurations, and guiding projects from feasibility through contract execution and handoff to project management.

The role requires managing timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, supporting proposal development, and ensuring projects are structured for smooth deployment. The Director will work closely with engineering, commercial, and leadership teams to align technical execution with business objectives and customer outcomes.

• Strong leadership experience guiding cross-functional technical and commercial teams
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex infrastructure projects from feasibility through execution
• Experience coordinating system integration, utility interconnection, and site-level electrical considerations
• Solid understanding of battery energy storage systems, distributed energy resources, or related technologies
• Commercially aware, with the ability to translate technical constraints into client-facing solutions
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment with regular travel to client sites
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field; project management or professional engineering credentials are an asset
• Experience in renewable energy, energy storage, microgrids, or C&I infrastructure projects is strongly preferred
