As a Bridge Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within the Transportation business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transport. We work on a diverse range of significant and challenging projects across the UK and Ireland, including Lower Thames Crossing, highways works for Sizewell C and Heathrow, and key schemes across the M25 for Connect Plus Services.
The team also supports non‑transportation civil engineering and structural projects throughout the UK and internationally, such as Hinkley Point C, Transporter Bridge, and Moonshot, and delivers a wide range of local authority projects for councils across the South.
- Take pride in developing high‑quality civil and structural designs for new constructions, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
- Collaborate with national and international design teams, utilizing your experience to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
- Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and use engineering judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option.
- Undertake technical work independently, including the production of high‑quality design documentation such as sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports and specifications.
- Provide guidance and support for more junior members of staff.
- Support on bids, tenders and winning work.
- Employ sound interpersonal skills and the ability to converse with a wide range of colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines.
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Near Chartered/Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStruct
E. - Experience working on projects with key clients such as Transport Scotland, National Highways, Network Rail, local authorities, major contractors and developers.
- Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards).
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment.
- Experience of structural analysis software packages such as LUSAS, MIDAS and Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across a number of engineering disciplines.
