Senior Water Resources Consultant – WSP UK & Ireland
We are inviting applications for the Senior Water Resources Consultant role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.
Job DescriptionWSP offers opportunities to grow and work with diverse, talented colleagues. The Sustainable Water Management team is looking for a committed, enthusiastic consultant to support projects ranging from water resources planning to policy and hydrology.
A Little More About Your Role…You will own technical delivery and project management, helping to secure new work through proposal development. The focus will be on existing UK water companies, regional groups and regulators, but you may work with a range of clients across sectors, including EU and international projects.
Expected deliverables include:
- Technical delivery of water resources, hydrological and demand‑management modelling.
- Proposal writing and project management for winning new work.
- Client engagement across discipline: hydrogeology, water quality, flood risk and environmental impact assessment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience in applying water resources planning tools and breadth of consultancy experience in water company, regulatory or academic settings.
- Understanding of UK water resources regulatory requirements, including Water Resource Planning Guidelines.
- Experience with environmental destination, water resources modelling and demand management projects.
- Strong numerate and analytical skills, with ability to analyse problems and devise solutions to novel challenges.
- Programming experience (Python, R) is advantageous and an interest in developing innovative solutions.
- Some project management experience or interest in developing these skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to write high‑quality concise reports.
- A degree‑level qualification in geography, hydrology, earth/environmental science, civil engineering or maths.
- Post‑graduate qualification in water resources management, hydrology or a related discipline.
- Working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
