About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Civil / Structural Design Engineer with experience in rail infrastructure to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex civil and structural projects, providing technical support and innovation within the rail sector.
What You'll Be Doing- Support civil and structural design and assessment projects for rail infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Assist senior engineers through design and analysis activities.
- Contribute to the specification and coordination of site surveys, structural assessments, foundation design, and temporary/permanent works design.
- Prepare and assist in the review of civil and structural design reports, risk assessments, and design documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, M&E, and construction teams, to integrate civil and structural solutions within rail projects.
- Ensure compliance with Network Rail standards, Eurocodes, and other relevant UK civil and structural regulations.
- Apply innovative approaches and emerging technologies in civil and structural engineering to enhance project outcomes.
- Working towards chartership with a relevant institution (ICE, IStruct
E, or equivalent). - Experience in civil and structural engineering, preferably within the rail infrastructure sector.
- Understanding of UK railway civil and structural standards, including Network Rail guidelines.
- Experience contributing to civil and structural projects from feasibility through to construction.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software such as Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer, Autodesk Robot, or similar.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to make sound engineering judgments.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to a range of audiences.
- Experience in client engagement and tendering processes is desirable.
