Job Description
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design, and construction of approximately 320km of new strategic, large‑diameter, clean‑water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. SPA will also take responsibility for future interconnector pipelines, adding a further 260km of strategic infrastructure. The Lead Process Engineer will work in collaboration with the project design team to develop process solutions that optimize plant performance, employ standard designs, and adhere to @one engineering design standards.
The role is hybrid, with office work from Peterborough and the opportunity to work from home.
- Process design of clean‑water pumping stations, dosing packages, and control systems that meet Anglian Water’s goals in customer service, environmental protection, and efficiency, incorporating complex hydraulics and system control.
- Support the Process Discipline Head in driving excellence in health & safety, applying knowledge & skills to produce safe designs that comply with CDM regulations, standards, and accepted codes of practice.
- Conduct process calculations, hydraulics, unit processes, pump calculations, capacity calculations, water quality assessments, and control philosophies; integrate SCADA and system commissioning.
- Prepare data sheets and technical bid analyses of third‑party process equipment.
- Ensure all technical work meets the correct standards and specifications, adheres to MAS requirements, and offers constructive challenge when necessary.
- Maintain the quality and consistency of all process engineering technical documents.
- Experience in process engineering.
- Demonstrable experience in clean‑water treatment and system control.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong IT skills.
- Proven problem‑solving capability.
- Degree level education in water/wastewater process science/engineering or a related subject.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification such as CIWEM or a related MSc.
- Member of a professional body.
- Full UK driving licence.
