Hydrologist - Senior/Principal (WINEP and Water Resources)

- Lead and contribute to high-profile Water Industry Natural Environment Programme (WINEP) and Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK.
- Support AMP8 WINEP projects for multiple UK water companies, addressing diverse geographical and environmental contexts.
- Collaborate with the Catchment Science team across water resources, hydrology, hydraulics, water quality, hydro ecology and hydrogeology to deliver high-quality technical services.
- Prepare high-quality client and regulator-facing deliverables with attention to detail and quality assurance.
- Engage with other sectors/disciplines to deliver hydrological components of challenging projects.
- A water-focused MSc (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and a BSc in a related subject (e.g., physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).
- Progress toward or attainment of chartership with a relevant professional body.
- Experience contributing to the hydrological and water management elements of WINEP investigations and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.
- Experience developing rainfall–runoff models with an understanding of model calibration techniques.
- Solid understanding of wider hydrology approaches for water resources applications in England and Wales.
- Familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.
- Understanding of UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines and WINEP guidance (e.g., Preventing Deterioration and Environmental Destination).
- Ability to assess climate change resilience and provide clear, high-quality client and stakeholder/regulator deliverables.
- Programming experience (e.g., Python and/or R) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to write concise reports.
- Collaborative working style with other sectors/disciplines to deliver hydrological work on diverse projects.
