Are you ready to play a crucial role in supporting the development, coordination, publication, and maintenance of weapon spares for the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Department of Defense (DoD)? We are seeking a dedicated Engineering Support Technologist to join our Military Liaison team. In this dynamic position, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that our nuclear ordnance systems are equipped with the necessary spare parts for optimal performance and safety.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

• Collaborate with military and engineering teams to analyze and provision spare parts for both base spares (funded and owned by DOE for maintenance and repair of WR stockpile materiel) and military spares (funded and owned by DoD for Service-owned TYPE weapons and associated equipment).
• Conduct thorough reviews of Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs) to ensure accuracy and compliance with end item material list drawings, including critical elements designated in the IPB.
• Convene initial provisioning conferences for new weapon programs to determine the required range and depth of base spares necessary for maintenance and repair operations.
• Develop preliminary spare parts lists and present findings during provisioning conferences, including material characterization for new items to identify potential storage, shipping, and handling hazards.
• Prepare, publish, and distribute spare lists and technical drawings to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for service redistribution, ensuring all UU packaging, storage, and shipping containers are supported by base spares.
• Participate in formal reviews with the Laboratory and Joint Task Group to validate Joint Nuclear Weapons Publications (JNWPS) manual IPBs and ensure the accuracy of information.
• Work closely with system and field engineers to finalize spares lists and support documentation, including special tools and DOE-designed special equipment.
• Occasionally travel to operational sites to ensure effective implementation of spare parts strategies and support maintenance operations.
• Assist in the preparation of other technical documents to support department operations and weapon design activities.
• Maintain compliance with security protocols, including access to Sigma 15, and be willing to undergo random polygraph testing.

* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

• A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience that demonstrates the required skills and knowledge.
• Proven experience in analyzing and interpreting weapon drawings, as evidenced by specific projects or roles.
• Proficiency in using desktop publishing tools (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Publisher) and/or familiarity with various computer operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS).
• Active DOE Q clearance or equivalent with the ability to obtain and maintain additional clearances, which may require a polygraph test.

• Nuclear Operations Knowledge: experience with Department of Defense (DoD) nuclear weapon maintenance operations and delivery platforms. Familiarity with the development, qualification, and utilization of nuclear weapons test and handling equipment is essential.
