Engineering Manager - Sheffield (1 day remote) - Up to £60,000
The Role & CompanyAn engineering industry specialist who are at the forefront of safety innovation within Rail are looking to expand their team by hiring an Engineering Manager. Their expertise is split across automation and safety critical solutions within the Rail industry.
ResponsibilitiesThe Engineering Manager is a pivotal leadership role within the business. The Engineering Manager will lead the Project Engineering/Project Management team and ensure the safe and complaint delivery of safety critical systems.
The Engineering Manager will act as the technical conscience for project delivery and be key in approving engineering works.
This role will require a balance of strong technical knowledge and strong stakeholder management/team leadership experience.
LocationSheffield - ability to work from home 1 day per week.
SalaryUp to £60,000 p/annum
Essential Criteria- Proven experience leading engineering or project delivery teams in a regulated, engineered environment.
- Strong grounding in electrical/electronic engineering — able to understand PCBs, I/O, control systems, and system-level interactions.
- Excellent communication skills — able to influence, coach and align strong personalities.
- Strong safety mindset; confident challenging unsafe design requests or practices.
- Rail experience (ideally depot, infrastructure, or safety systems).
- Exposure to system-level mechanical considerations (fixtures, loading, forces).
- CRE experience or readiness to step into delegated CRE responsibilities.
- Experience leading NCR/issue investigations and root‑cause analysis.
