Position: Senior Power Transformers Field Specialist Team Lead.

Job Description Summary

The GE Grid Solutions GSI North America group is currently seeking a Senior Power Transformers Field Specialist Team Lead. Reporting directly to the Field Services Team Leader for the Power Transformers (PTR) Group, the incumbent will be responsible for detail‑oriented collaboration with the clients and engineering groups, to ensure the erection & commissioning and maintenance of PTR systems throughout North America.

The role will also be responsible for training and supporting colleagues in performing essential tasks related to PTR installation and services processes and procedures to ensure all safety and quality procedures are followed to meet our customer’s expectations.

Highlights On The Position
  • Regional and national travel required across all the North America.
  • Long term installation projects which provide rotational schedules with four weeks on site and one week working at home throughout project life cycle.
  • Position provides a guaranteed base salary compensation plus eligibility for overtime and per diem.
  • Typical On‑site work activities are 12‑hour days, up to six days per week.
  • Emergency call out services may be required to support our customers year‑round 24x7 production requirements.
  • Position would be assigned to or based out of our service center in Humble/Houston Texas area.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Coordination of PTR service technicians and equipment to perform on site transformer services covering new unit installation, corrective maintenance, and unit upgrades.
  • Lead on‑site resources of assigned crew members and subcontracted services.
  • Perform daily morning tailboards with the crews and or customer resources.
  • Perform daily end of day tailboards with crews and or customer resources.
  • Identify and report any EHS/HSE concerns with associated works.
  • Daily status update reports detailing team activities, unit status, delays or any other critical operations related to site task being performed by GE PTR teams.
  • Operation and control of vacuum processing rigs and associated equipment.
  • Perform and or oversee the associated field test or commissioning of associated units.
  • Oversight to confirm that test technicians follow required commissioning standards and submission of test results to engineering for review and confirmation.
  • Annotating and editing drawings for 'as built' to properly document changes made to OEM design.
  • Participate in the development and improvement on associated standard procedures associated with transformer service.
  • Provide technical assistance in the preparation of submission of technical documents.
  • Participate in the development of inspection criteria in collaboration with external and internal customers associated with transformer services.
Required Qualifications
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
  • Minimum of 10 years of field experience with specific mechanical and/or electrical experience related to power transformers or other Electrical Balance of Plant (eBOP) equipment such as high voltage breakers, switch gear, and associated devices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with specialization in Power Transformer or HV/MV apparatus or Electrical Engineering or equivalent 10 years of PTR installation and repair experience.
Desired Characteristics
  • Leadership experience in a high‑pressure ever‑changing work environment with direct customer contact.
  • Effective communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Site management and field service experience.
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics and one‑line diagrams.
  • Resource scheduling and forecasting of required activities.
  • Ability to forecast equipment requirements for job specific execution.

CDL license preferred, or the ability to obtain.

Hourly pay range: $52.00-$30.00/hour depending on experience, qualifications, and position level (Tech I or Tech II). The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for bonuses, such as a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.
