Position: Full Time – Field Engineer Program, Field Service Engineer – Washington D.C

Overview

Job Title:

Full Time – Field Engineer Program, Field Service Engineer – Washington D.C. – Summer 2026. This is a paid training program in Field Service Engineering to prepare for a full territory Field Service Engineer position across North America, including modality training and customer-site installation, troubleshooting, service, and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service by adhering to entitlements, setting clear expectations, meeting commitments and arrival times, and addressing and resolving customer needs. Understand the customer’s business and competitive environment; generate service revenue.
  • Actively participate as a member of the regional work team; work to improve team processes and identify training gaps. Seek opportunities to increase capability and capacity (e.g., qualify in multiple modalities, learn new tools).
  • Perform administrative duties within Philips, state, and federal regulatory requirements and time frames, including timesheets, service work orders, expense reports, Field Change Orders (FCO), preventive maintenance (PM), installation documents, site and service documentation, and related paperwork. Adhere to training, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Utilize tools, support, resources, and escalation processes within required time frames to resolve customer and system problems timely and effectively. Complete PMs, FCOs, installation, and related tasks (diagnose and resolve electronic, network, and mechanical problems).
  • Approximately 70% travel across the specified geography is required. Average driving time is 1–4 hours daily; occasional overnight travel by air/train may be required.
You’re the right fit if
  • You have recently completed or are an upcoming graduate with an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics or Electronics Technology, Biomedical Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or similar
  • (or BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET)
  • You’ve acquired internship or co-op experience in a diagnostic imaging (field or hospital-based) service environment or in electromechanical industries, preferred
  • Preferred experience in diagnostic x-ray/cardiovascular/cath labs/imaged guided therapy equipment, or similar in a regulated industry
  • Your skills include understanding and applying electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment, including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment
  • Must be willing to relocate within the Service Zone upon promotion to Field Service Engineer 1 (Grade 35) after the successful completion of the first year of training. Candidate may be eligible for up to a $10K relocation bonus upon promotion reassignment, subject to factors
  • You must be able to meet the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental requirements with or without accommodation
Minimum requirements
  • Work in an office/home office and/or remote setting, as well as in a hospital/healthcare environment; adhere to requirements
  • Work flexible hours (including overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations)
  • Safely work with radiation sources and/or radioactive materials; wear all required personal protective equipment
What to expect about the role

This is a field role. For office-based teams, in-person work is required at least 3 days per week; onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities; field roles are typically outside the main facilities at customer or supplier locations.

Philips is a health technology company committed to improving lives. The hourly pay range in Washington D.C. is $28.00 to $33.00, plus overtime eligibility. The role includes field service training and advancement opportunities. Actual base pay varies based on factors including knowledge, experience, location, and internal equity. Additional compensation such as annual incentives, bonuses, or long-term incentives may be offered.
