Water Resources Engineer – In‑Training
Dillon Consulting Limited is seeking a Water Resources Engineer–In‑Training to join our multidisciplinary team in Calgary and Winnipeg. The role offers flexible work hours and tutu opportunity to work on new and exciting projects across a range of sectors.
Responsibilities- Assisting project managers with multidisciplinary and water resources engineering projects, supporting stormwater management, municipal servicing, hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, and design assignments in transportation, land development, private industry and municipal infrastructure.
- Completing watershed and sub‑watershed scale hydrology investigations and hydraulic assessments of open channel and closed pipe systems.
- Coordinating water resources contributions to a wide range of small to large multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Participating in field inspection, reconnaissance, data collection and monitoring programs.
- Preparing reports and proposals—drafting content, organising information and aligning content with project scope and requirements.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary team members.
- Contributing to business development activities, including the preparation of project proposals and presentations, and client‑need research.
- Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
- Committing to self‑development, ongoing learning and professional development.
- Participating actively in professional associations and committees to contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile.
- Degree in civil, environmental or water resources engineering.
- One to two years of work experience in the consulting industry; entry‑level staff will also be considered.
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling systems such as HEC‑RAS, XPSWMM, Info Works ICM, PCSWMM and others.
- Experience in designing stormwater management systems, culverts, bridges, sewers and open channel systems.
- Knowledge of local regulations, policies, guidelines and provincial and municipal permit requirements for environmental agencies.
- Experience in detailed design of stormwater management features.
- Familiarity with federal and provincial flood line mapping guidelines is an asset.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
