Job Summary
This role will support the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, Industrial Technologies Office (ITO). The Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) accelerates the innovation and adoption of cost-effective technologies that position American industry to lead on the competitive stage in evolving global markets. ITO provides planning, management, and direction necessary for a balanced national program of research, development, demonstration, technical assistance, and workforce development to drive energy, materials, and production efficiency across the industrial sector.
The Project Monitor Role supports the DOE Office of Industrial Technologies Office in the full life cycle of project management activities from Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcements, award negotiation, active project management, and project closeout. Support involves day-to-day interactions with internal parties such as legal, contracting, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and communications, and external communication with project recipients in academia, nonprofits, for-profit businesses, and National Laboratories.
Projects supported range from earlier stage research & development through deployment projects of commercial technologies.
- Oversee and manage assigned projects throughout their lifecycle, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, and performance expectations.
- Utilize DOE and CMEI systems—including STRIPES, FAST, PM Bridge, and PMC—to track project status, maintain documentation, and support required reporting.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks or delays, and recommend corrective actions to keep activities on schedule.
- Coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to ensure accurate communication and timely completion of project deliverables.
- Maintain detailed project records and ensure compliance with all DOE/CMEI policies, processes, and documentation standards.
- Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing competing deadlines and requirements effectively.
- Provide regular updates, summaries, and analyses to leadership to support informed decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying process gaps and recommending enhancements to project monitoring workflows.
- Assist in the development of internal briefing materials for decision makers and contribute technical review of external communications.
- Support the development, coordination, and management of competitive solicitations and merit reviews
- Engage with Industrial Technologies Office headquarters staff to ensure data consistency, quality and communication.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (project, data, or operations management, business administration, or other related discipline)
