This position will assist in the implementation of SC's Brownfields Voluntary Cleanup Program to meet the requirements of the Small Business Liability Relief & Brownfields Revitalization Act. The program includes Brownfields Voluntary Cleanup, Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund, and State-wide Environmental Assessment program - each funded through individual EPA cooperative agreements.
Job Responsibilities:
* Negotiates contracts with non-responsible parties (NRP) for the assessment and remediation of properties/sites.
* Conducts technical review of Brownfields assessment and cleanup work plans and reports.
* Directs and oversees site-specific environmental assessments and/or cleanups at Brownfields properties.
* Enters, tracks, and maintains project information in the ePermitting database and ensures accuracy of the file management system.
* Other program duties as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology or geological engineering or a bachelor's degree and 30 semester hours in geology/geophysics.
Additional Requirements:
* Ability to review and analyze technical documents and files regarding the assessment and cleanup of sites.
* Ability to provide oversight of the assessment and cleanup of sites.
* Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office suite applications.
* Provide excellent customer service
* Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in a culturally competent manner.
* Occasional overnight travel
* Must have a valid driver's license, 10-year driving record that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines, and the ability to drive a state vehicle
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with: CERCLA Statute; environmental sampling methodologies; preparing environmental investigation reports; ePermitting.
* Knowledge of the CERCLA and Brownfields Revitalization Acts.
* Experience in preparing technical work scopes and providing oversight of technical work conducting environmental assessments.
* Hold SC GIT or PG registration.
