This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Designer (Remote). As a Mechanical Designer on the Fuel Fabrication team, you’ll transform engineering concepts into precise and manufacturable designs. This role is pivotal in tackling high-impact challenges by designing manufacturing equipment components and mechanical systems critical for fuel manufacturing facilities.
You will be driving the process from concept generation to manufacturable designs while ensuring compliance with performance and regulatory requirements. Collaboration with engineers, suppliers, and fabricators will be essential to bring technical ideas to life and achieve outstanding outcomes.
- Develop and own the design of equipment and mechanical components within fuel fabrication facilities.
- Translate ideas into manufacturable components and assemblies.
- Support prototype builds, providing design assistance and implementing design feedback.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams to define design and functional requirements.
- Use CAD tools to translate functional requirements into robust designs.
- Conduct and participate in design reviews, providing and receiving technical feedback.
- Evaluate mechanical designs to identify deficiencies and propose solutions.
- Generate and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials.
- Perform detailed manufacturability reviews and assessments for fabrication and assembly.
- Create clear documentation of design rationales and functional requirements.
- Work with fabrication partners to refine designs for cost-effective production.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of mechanical design processes and standards.
- 5-10 years of work experience, with 4+ years in mechanical or structural design.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (Siemens NX, CATIA, Solid Works).
- Experience with CAD version control using PDM/PLM tools.
- Solid understanding of mechanical design principles (DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis).
- Working knowledge of material selection and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams, integrating feedback.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with external manufacturers and engineering consultants.
