Your OpportunityStantec's Water practice in Santa Barbara, California is seeking a highly motivated Wastewater Project Technical Lead to join our successful team working on iconic projects. The PTL is accountable for project delivery and all technical coordination, ensuring an integrated technical solution and confirmed quality of all deliverables.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Promote Stantec’s project delivery structure that includes Project Managers and Project Technical Leads.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership in the development of innovative technical solutions for water and/or wastewater projects.
- Manage and execute conventional design‑bid‑build and alternate delivery of new and existing water, recycled water, and wastewater treatment and conveyance projects.
- Direct the work of, communicate effectively, and coordinate with project teams including multiple disciplines (drafters, designers, and other engineers).
- Develop and prepare reports, planning studies, specifications, calculations, detailed design drawings, construction submittal reviews, models and other technical deliverables for treatment, conveyance, and infrastructure related projects.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate with clients on projects during planning, design, and construction.
- Support Stantec’s reputation for innovation and research through participation in California conferences, professional associations, and academic partnerships.
- Mentor young professionals in the California offices.
- Work effectively in partnership with BC leadership, the Project Pursuit teams and PMs, and proactively coordinate activities undertaken by project teams in both local and remote offices.
- Understand and proactively satisfy client’s needs and expectations.
- Ensure activities are planned and completed in an efficient and timely manner.
- Working inclusively with the client, stakeholders, the PM and the project team.
- Connect the Client, PM, independent reviewers and the project team to the project’s technical solutions.
- Provide support and guidance for personnel in the project team who have PTL aspirations.
- Proactively identify, capture, and reuse Intellectual Property (IP).
- Comply with Stantec safety procedures and protocols.
- Experience organizing, planning, and executing water and/or wastewater treatment and/or conveyance designs from pursuit to design and construction.
- Experience leading, coordinating, and managing multidisciplinary teams involving internal personnel, subconsultants, vendors, and suppliers.
- Experience with collaborative delivery projects working with contractors and vendors.
- Strong client service, project management, and/or design management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for team building, collaboration, and mentoring.
- Strong technical skills with at least one area of specialized expertise.
- Efficient technical leadership of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to meet client expectations on project budgeting and quality management.
- Experience managing or participating in market and strategic client relationship development campaigns and proposal writing.
- Experience developing projects and tasks level of effort.
- Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.
- Education:
B.S. degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering (M.S. preferred). - Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of water/wastewater treatment or conveyance experience. - Licenses/Certifications:
Valid California Professional Engineering license, or Professional Engineering license in another state with ability to obtain a California license within 1 year of employment required.
