Environmental Project Manager – FERC Natural Gas Projects
WSP in the US is seeking an Environmental Project Manager with experience managing multi‑disciplinary teams to obtain Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) authorizations and related permitting for interstate natural gas pipeline system infrastructure projects. This full‑time, salaried position is based out of the New York City office, with remote work‑from‑home as an option. Other locations considered include Washington DC, Valhalla, NY, Sheldon CT, or Morristown NJ.

Your Impact:
The primary focus for this Project Manager is to provide environmental services and strategies to clients involving routing, permitting, and construction support services for natural gas facilities regulated by the FERC.
- Manage multiple projects in various phases of development and geographical location ranging from routing/siting phase to construction compliance phase
- Manage and direct resource teams on environmental studies and associated permit applications including FERC Section 7 applications, Blanket Project authorizations, and third‑party EA/EIS documents
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies for project permitting
- Generate business development leads, write proposals and presentations, and capture project work
- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, GIS analysts, permitting and environmental resource specialists, land agents, and construction compliance monitors
- Communicate with the public and community stakeholders at hearings and public meetings
- Client coordination including preparing and monitoring project scope, budget, schedule, and forecasting
- Participate in field reviews, project compliance inspections, and site meetings
- Travel up to 25 % of time for client and internal meetings
- B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related degree
- Minimum twelve (12) years of professional experience managing environmental licensing and permitting of pipelines
- Expertise in regulations pursuant to the Natural Gas Act administered by the FERC, with a working knowledge of other applicable federal environmental regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including defining and understanding client requirements, managing expectations, and communicating with clients and project staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Self‑starter with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional certifications relevant to technical expertise
- Masters degree in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or related field

CompensationExpected salary (all locations): $139,800 – $220,150. Compensation is based on the applicant’s education, experience, and skills. WSP reserves the right to pay more or less than this range and to offer additional benefits and compensation.
