What Your Job Will Be LikeWe are seeking an Engineering Support Technologist to support development efforts related to Surface Mounting Technologies, Rapid Prototype Fabrication processes, Cable Fabrication, and Quality Assurance that provides design solutions to complex fabrication builds to be transferred into manufacturing processes and production agencies.
- Develop engineering test scripts for the QC acceptability of electrical assemblies, address non‑conformance, train to lessons learned and uphold departments quality plan, document work activities and work in a team environment
- Perform assigned developmental fabrication techniques in the areas of Surface Mount Technologies (SMT) Printed Wiring Assemblies (PWAs) utilizing various tooling platforms like Pick‑n‑place, selective solder platforms, BGA systems and X‑Ray CT
- Perform assigned developmental fabrication techniques in the areas of Additive Manufacturing (AM) to include work order receipt and interpretation, customer interfacing, build set‑up, general printer maintenance, and printer operations
- Perform assigned developmental fabrication techniques for design for manufacturability turnover in complex harnessing and cabling efforts for unique Nuclear Deterrent as well as various Sandia Partnership programs
- Use and maintain IPC certification in acceptability of electronic assemblies as an SME Technical Trainer, provide hands‑on technical subject matter expertise to the departments apprenticeship curriculum objectives as a Trainer
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range$62,400 - $120,400
* Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require- Associate's degree in Electrical Technology or relevant discipline; or equivalent
- Experience operating and maintaining electronic fabrication equipment, tooling and systems
- Experience using characterization tools including electronic component tester platforms, test sets, meters, diagnostic equipment, encapsulation equipment
- Experience in electrical and mechanical schematic reading as to build to print design
- An Active DOE Q security clearance, or equivalent is required to start
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or Electronic Technology
- Currently certified under IPC or IPC Trainer Standards
- Experience in Surface Mount Technologies SMT, Printed Wiring Assemblies PWA, Ball Grid Array fabrication assembly and inspection
- Experience with:
- Additive Manufacturing
- Complex R&D cabling and harness fabrication, testing
- Experience in hands‑on X‑Ray CT systems and operations
- Highly experienced in electromechanical fabrication concepts and techniques to support R&D projects
- Experience in Pick‑N‑Place platforms, Solder flow ovens, BGAs for developmental prototyping
- Hands on experience in electronic assembly in support of research programs using laboratory equipment and formal processes
- Experience with additive poly‑based tooling platforms
