Senior Quantity Surveyor – Glasgow
The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team, taking responsibility for the commercial management of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. The role covers renewable energy, highways and marine works and offers exposure to high-value, technically complex schemes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the commercial management of multiple high-value civil engineering projects
* Manage contract administration, including variations, claims and final accounts
* Prepare and maintain detailed cost reports and cash flow forecasts
* Procure, negotiate and manage subcontractor packages
* Monitor project costs and identify value engineering opportunities
* Provide commercial support and advice to project teams and senior management
* Lead procurement activities and manage supplier relationships
* Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors and commercial staff
Essential Requirements
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
* Significant experience on heavy civil engineering projects within renewable energy, highways or marine sectors
* Strong working knowledge of NEC3/4 and FIDIC contract forms
* Ability to undertake detailed re-measurement in accordance with standard methods (e.g. CESSM4, NRM2)
* Proven experience preparing and managing delay and disruption claims, including time-related cost analysis
* Demonstrable experience analysing construction programmes, critical path and delay assessments
* Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
* Full UK driving licence
* Willingness to travel to sites across Scotland, England and Wales as required
Desirable Experience
* Commercial management experience on projects valued over £10m
* Around 10 years’ experience in civil engineering quantity surveying
* Professional qualification such as MCInstCES, MRICS or MCIArb (or equivalent)
* Strong understanding of heavy civil engineering construction techniques
* Knowledge of the Scottish civil engineering market

Location
Glasgow-based role with travel to project sites as required, including occasional overnight stays. Candidates willing to work away from home during the week on certain projects will be given special consideration
