Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Senior CAD Designer. This position will be responsible for using computer-aided design (CAD) techniques to design power system projects from complex components of field data (notes, sketches, photos, etc.) and government requirement documents.
This is a fully remote position requiring 10% travel.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83000 - $121000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you’ll do:Essential Functions:
- Prepare complex layouts, electrical schematics, details, diagrams, one-lines, and plan drawings using AutoCAD, relating to new and modified equipment specifications, as well as from customer engineering interpretations of the governments order/requirements.
- Compile data required for project assignments and produce standards, notes, specifications, spreadsheets, and other related written documents as required.
- Maintain contact with project managers, application engineers, product engineers and sales engineers to review and discuss information, modifications, adjustments, and progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of Eaton equipment being installed for the customer.
- Provide guidance to and assist and train less experienced designers in all aspects of mechanical or electrical drafting; recommend technical methods or approaches for these personnel in order to increase their overall quality, timeliness, and productivity.
- Take a lead role in providing input and feedback for continuous improvement of processes and standards including critical involvement with the CAD Teams and/or quality improvement teams and provide a positive role in continuous corrective and preventative action and processes.
- Implement changes to drawings per government documents, specifications and field notes. Inform Project Managers to modify their Statements of Work, when applicable.
- Take responsibility for the development of a portion of the computer aided engineering system by creating custom macros, libraries and templates.
- Establish and deploy CAD standards and guidelines for the extended team.
- Check work to assure conformance NEC Standards. Working knowledge of standards applicable to assigned products (ANSI, NEMA, UL, CSA, etc.)
Basic Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Mechanical Design and Technology, Engineering Graphics Technology (MECH), Engineering-Architectural or Electrical Engineering Technology (ELEC) from an accredited institution
- 5-7 years of experience with electrical or mechanical CAD systems in designing and developing mechanical/electrical power systems drawing designs

- Candidates must be located within 60 miles of Raleigh NC to be considered. Relocation is not offered.
- Architectural and Mechanical Design experience
- 3D CAD Design experience
- Proficient in Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- United States Secret or Top Secret (TS) government clearances.
