Tetra Tech is adding a qualified Environmental Scientists/Environmental Monitors to support environmental compliance, monitoring, and field surveys for renewable energy projects across eastern Oregon and Washington. This position plays a critical role in ensuring project compliance during construction and supporting biological and environmental field efforts.
The Environmental Scientist will observe and document environmental permit compliance, communicate with construction teams, and collect accurate field data while adhering to standardized protocols. In addition to construction monitoring, this role may support wildlife, botanical, and wetland surveys as project needs arise.
This position is well suited for candidates who enjoy fieldwork, problem-solving, and contributing directly to the success of renewable energy and environmental protection projects.

Essential Job Functions:- Conduct environmental compliance monitoring during construction activities in accordance with project permits and regulatory requirements
- Observe, document, and report construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits and mitigation measures
- Communicate effectively with construction contractors and Tetra Tech project staff
- Complete accurate field data collection forms and daily reports
- Support additional environmental and biological surveys including wildlife, botanical, and wetland surveys as needed
- Utilize GPS units and other field equipment to document field observations
- Maintain a high standard of safety while working in rural and remote environments
- Adhere to all Tetra Tech health, safety, and quality policies and procedures
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.

- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Soils, Natural Resources, or related field preferred but not required
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in environmental monitoring, environmental construction compliance, site restoration, or related field
- Previous experience with environmental construction monitoring, site restoration, or environmental fieldwork preferred
- Field experience in soil science, restoration ecology, wildlife, or botany preferred
- Experience implementing NPDES 1200-C permits and CESCL certification preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with project teams
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible schedules due to changing field conditions
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
- Ability to walk for extended periods in rugged terrain
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to approximately 35 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions including heat, wind, rain, snow, and dust
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, and stand for extended periods during field assignments
- Primary work environment is outdoors at active construction and project sites
- Work will be performed in rural, remote, and isolated locations
