EPC Cost Estimator

Job Summary

Large utility is looking for an EPC Cost Estimator. Remote work. This role requires 1 to 2 years of experience and a relevant degree to prepare detailed discipline‑specific cost estimates using industry software, technical drawing analysis, and WBS categorization for medium‑complexity construction projects. This is a contract position estimated to last 12 months, possible extension, possible temp to perm.

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for medium‑complexity projects across various contract types.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate scope of work for specific disciplines.
• Review project drawings, proposal specifications, and attend site meetings to define scope.
• Develop pricing based on industry standards, estimating guides, and company procedures.
• Utilize cost estimating software and maintain organized backup documentation for all figures.
• Organize estimates into Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) categorized by material, labor, and equipment.
• Apply appropriate mark‑ups, contingency percentages, and construction standards.
• Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding project feasibility.
• Coordinate the total bidding effort for assigned projects under the mentorship of senior staff.
• Assist in updating and incorporating new data into the master cost database.
• Interpret computerized cost systems and data to ensure financial accuracy.

• Knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
• Disciplines of Estimating required:
  Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, I&C, Pipeline, Storage, M&R.

• Associates or Bachelor degree preferred.
• Minimum 1-2 years of construction cost estimating working experience.
