Director of Renewable Projects Development – Italy

A leading international Renewable Energy IPP is seeking an experienced Director of Renewable Projects Development to lead and deliver a substantial and growing utility-scale portfolio across Italy.

This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for progressing projects from post-investment decision through to ready-to-build (RTB) status. You will oversee permitting, grid connection, land, offtake and stakeholder engagement, while managing a local development team and working closely with international headquarters and partners.

With a multi‑GW pipeline spanning solar, wind and energy storage, this is a rare opportunity to take ownership of nationally significant projects and play a pivotal role in Italy’s energy transition.

• Lead the execution of a large-scale renewable energy pipeline across Italy from post‑origination to RTB.
• Manage and develop a team of project managers, setting clear goals, timelines and budgets.
• Own relationships with key stakeholders including ministries, regions, grid operators and permitting authorities.
• Coordinate external partners such as co‑developers, consultants, legal and engineering advisors.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, risk management and reporting.
• Act as the key interface between the Italian business and international headquarters.

• Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in renewable energy project development in Italy.
• Strong track record delivering utility‑scale solar, wind and/or storage projects.
• Deep knowledge of Italian permitting, interconnection and land frameworks.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments.
• Fluent Italian and English.
• Comfortable working in an international, fast‑moving organisation.
