Location: Cary, NC (Hybrid role with remote work flexibility)

Compensation: $65 - $75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications
Overview / SummaryThe Sr. Piping Engineer provides piping stress engineering support for critical process systems, performing and reviewing stress analyses using industry‑standard tools to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, B31.1, and BPE. Works closely with piping designers and engineers to resolve stress‑related issues and optimize layouts, participating in 3D model reviews using platforms like Navisworks and Smart Plant Review to validate overall design integrity.
Contributes to piping material selection and specifications to ensure compatibility with stress and operating requirements. Supports global workshare execution through clear communication and coordination, while maintaining a solid understanding of project scope, change management impacts, and associated person‑hour adjustments. Provides input into estimating piping stress engineering effort and deliverables, with the ability to support broader piping design activities, including AutoCAD Plant 3D and Revit, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in piping stress analysis for industrial or commercial facilities
- Strong understanding of piping codes, standards, and flexibility analysis principles
- Familiarity with model review software (Navisworks, Smart Plant Review)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multi‑discipline, global team environment.
- Proficiency in CAESAR II for piping stress analysis
- Experience with piping material specifications and integration with stress requirements
- Exposure to piping design fundamentals and ability to assist with layout development
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Plant 3D or Revit, with capability to manage or support design workflows
- Pharmaceutical or advanced manufacturing facility experience
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers, contribute to QA/QC processes, and perform calculation checking.
