Job Overview

Shell’s Soil and Groundwater (SGW) Solutions team seeks a technical subject‑matter expert to provide assurance on soil and groundwater investigations, risk assessments, remediation activities across U.S. and Canadian sites. The role is virtual and supports a portfolio of locations.

Core Accountabilities
  • Act as a SGW subject‑matter expert supporting Shell businesses.
  • Deliver deep technical support on projects in key areas such as hydrogeological modelling, water resource management, contaminated land management, and SGW research and development.
  • Perform technical assurance on third‑party consultant work, ensuring high‑quality delivery.
  • Lead or contribute to R&D initiatives and policy advocacy to advance Shell’s leadership in contaminated site risk assessment.
  • Collaborate internally and with contractors to provide optimized technical assurance support.
Qualifications
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and/or Canada.
  • Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in a relevant science or engineering discipline; postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) in Hydrogeology, Contaminated Land Management, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contaminated land management within industry, environmental consultancy, or regulatory agency.
  • Experience with groundwater sourcing, disposal, and protection issues related to oil & gas activities or water resource forecasting.
  • Expertise in: hydrogeological modelling, conceptual site model development, tiered environmental risk assessment, contaminant fate and transport evaluation, site assessment & monitoring program development, remediation strategy development, hydrogeologic analyses, regulatory negotiations, and contaminated land regulatory requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including business partnering, coaching, change management, and facilitation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese an advantage.
  • Availability for approximately 10% travel within the region.
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $122,000 – $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
