OverviewThe Public Drinking Water Program is seeking an Environmental Engineer who is passionate about protecting public health through safe and reliable drinking water. You will join a collaborative team of engineers and scientists reviewing and providing input on projects from planning through permitting. You will be working closely with internal programs-Operations, Compliance, Capacity Development, and Water Resources-to help communities implement sustainable, resilient drinking water projects in compliance with the Water Supply Rule.

- The ability to critically review engineering drawings, specifications, hydraulic analysis, and preliminary engineering reports with attention to detail.

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required.

Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil or mechanical engineering or a related field AND four (4) or more years of experience in in a related engineering field
OR
One (1) year or more of experience as an Environmental Engineer VI or two (2) years or more as an Environmental Engineer V.
Preferred QualificationsMasters Degree in environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil or mechanical engineering or a related
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Vermont, by written examination, in the fields of civil, civil/sanitary, environmental or sanitary.
