Role:
Senior Structural Engineer (Temp / Part‑time)
Location:
Remote (MA/RI/NH region) with occasional travel to client sites.
VHB’s structural engineering group plays a vital role in developing and enhancing connectivity through infrastructure projects such as complex bridge and interchange designs, rehabilitation and inspection, pedestrian walkways, and transit stations. These projects improve mobility for the traveling public.
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Structures group on a temp/flexible basis. In this position, you will support the planning, analysis, and design of a diverse portfolio of structural projects across New England.
Responsibilities- Support, develop, organize, and implement structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation.
- Manage tasks and project scope.
- Review plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of structural engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrated excellence in technical writing.
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.
- Robust technical and critical thinking skills.
- Detail oriented and quality focused.
- Strong project management skills.
- Motivated to lead and mentor others.
- Knowledge of structural engineering software.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station v8, Revit, Open Roads, Open Bridge, and/or Connect is a strong plus.
- 8–11 years of professional experience in structural bridge and building design, construction phasing, and complex projects.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering; M.S. preferred.
- PE licensure required.
Hourly compensation for this remote position is estimated at $55.00–$81.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and location.
