Join our dynamic team where passion meets purpose. We support critical engineering and sciences initiatives, contributing to meaningful projects in the Protection and Controls Department. As a Protection and Control Engineer, you will collaborate with senior engineers to complete essential protection and control projects with minimal direction, working alongside in-house and client engineers and designers. You will also provide training and guidance to junior engineers.
Responsibilities- Develop project scopes, one-line diagrams, and estimates for substation projects.
- Review substation construction drawings, including electrical arrangements, plan and section views, grounding, cable and conduit drawings, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
- Engineer and design lightning protection, grounding, and equipment replacement and repair for substations.
- Make changes and corrections to drawings and documentation as necessary.

- Ensure timely ordering and delivery of material and equipment for substation construction.
- Travel to project sites for walk downs and gather information to develop accurate requirements for substation projects.
- Lead substation projects and coordinate work activities within the department.
- Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
- Initiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being met.
- Work under the supervision of higher-level engineers and occasionally visit project sites.
- Five to eight years of experience in utilities working with protection and controls.
- Five to eight years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish.
- Five to eight years of experience setting relays and designing one-line diagrams.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in substation design, AutoCAD, and electrical drafting.
Skills & Qualifications
- A PE License is desirable but not required.
- Experience with AutoCAD Inventor and utility engineering is beneficial.
The role is based in a quiet engineering office environment, with a business casual dress code. Teamwork is highly encouraged and frequently practiced to foster a collaborative working atmosphere.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
