This position is related to substations and distributed generation energy projects in the utility sector. Experience in this area is required.
Position Responsibilities:- Lead a group of engineers developing concept and detailed engineering on several substation projects, both AIS and GIS types. Perform substation engineering and project management services on various substation projects (from 34.5kV up to 765kV voltage level) for local and domestic clients.
- Manage all aspects of the engineering design oversight and project management of multiple complex utility projects.
- Prepare electrical protection and control and substation physical layout design; own the project scope, schedule & budget; interface and coordinate with other disciplines including communications, civil & structural, transmission line, project/program management, permitting, and contractor coordination & construction support.
- Prepare/Review relay drawings including relay panel arrangements, single lines, three lines, AC schematics, equipment wiring, and relay panel wiring.
- Design substations utilizing client standards including bill of materials, yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, ground grid, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC and DC power systems, and cable lists.
- Prepare/Review calculations and equipment specifications.
- Execute complex assignments requiring advanced techniques, developing new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.
- Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members. Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in substation projects
- PE or chartered engineer license
- Master's Degree
- Proficiency with National Electrical Safety Code & IEEE/ANSI Standards
- Advanced knowledge of power systems protection, underground systems, and transmission & distribution systems
