Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring a Mid‑Systems Engineer to provide operational and integration support for a multi‑vendor infrastructure, including various networks, systems, and virtual training environment (VTE) vendors. This position will be located in Tampa, FL. The role is on‑site with occasional hybrid‑remote work based on project requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Gather information on the capabilities of Company products and investigate technical capabilities of competing equipment and solutions.
  • Generate quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning, and design, ensuring compliance through formal verification methods.
  • Translate high‑level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop detailed implementation requirements.
  • Establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall network and system development.
  • Design interfaces and integrate network and system elements to work cohesively.
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Serve as customer liaison and support business development activities, understanding and shaping requirements.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment with a team of specialized engineers to implement integration, modernization, and new installations for U.S. partner nations and allies overseas.
  • Demonstrate technical competency, delivering mission‑critical infrastructure and ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
  • Coordinate planning, design, and installation of equipment using engineering and programming knowledge.
  • Participate in system conceptual design and documentation.
  • Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
  • Design, create, and build network services, equipment, and devices.
  • Generate system‑level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
  • Monitor system performance and implement performance tuning.
  • Review test plans/procedures to ensure they meet contractual requirements and participate in testing.
  • Maintain solid networking knowledge (OSI layers, TCP/IP).
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows/UNIX/Linux server‑based environments.
  • Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, security policies, and organizational units.
  • Experience with virtualization and converged infrastructures (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V).
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across multiple organizational levels in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Apply critical thinking skills in agile, flexible team environments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 6‑9 years of relevant experience.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Valid U.S. passport and willingness to travel up to 40% internationally to Eastern Europe and South America.
  • Proven experience integrating system solutions under Foreign Military Sales (FMS) or Building Partner Capabilities (BPC).
  • Proficiency with network drawing and productivity tools (Visio, Lucid, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+, CCNA Security, CySA+, CASP).
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Relevant BS degree in a related field plus 2 years of experience, or HS diploma with 6 years of experience.
  • A military background within Signal, Communications, Cyber, or Information Technology MOS is highly desirable.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Associate/Engineer (MCSA or MCSE).
  • CompTIA A+/Net+/Linux+/Server+ certifications.
  • VMware Certified Professional.
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional or Certified Cloud Practitioner.
