Egis’ Environmental Division has been recognized over the past 30+ years as providing high-level deliverables and advice to a variety of clients, throughout Ontario and the rest of Canada. Our Environmental Division currently consists of experts in the following fields:
Contaminant and Waste, Hydrogeology, Environmental Assessment, Natural Science and Environmental Engineering.

We are looking to expand our Environmental division into Cultural Heritage by hiring a motivated Cultural Heritage Specialist/Lead to support our growing team. Working alongside the Manager, Environmental Engineering (North America) and Practice Area Lead, Environmental Assessment (North America) you will fill an integral senior role on the team, which necessitates technical knowledge, leadership in project management, and most importantly a cultural fit.

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in heritage planning, heritage conservation, or in a heritage-related discipline;
  • 5-10 years of demonstrated Cultural Heritage experience;
  • Membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP)
  • Qualified cultural heritage professional as defined by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM);
  • Ability to work independently and grow a team as Cultural Heritage Lead;
  • Proven experience writing winning proposals and experience executing on those projects;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international, federal and provincial heritage legislation and best practices, including the Appleton and Venice Charters, Ontario Heritage Act, Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, The Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada, MTO’s heritage policies and procedures and other relevant policy frameworks;
  • Experience providing advice and guidance for heritage related matters for a variety of stakeholders, including the public, and municipal, provincial, and federal heritage agencies;
  • Experience completing historic property research, built heritage surveys, cultural landscape surveys, heritage inventory, determining impacts on the historic environment, and designating properties under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act;
  • Experience writing and completing heritage reports, including Existing Conditions and Preliminary Impact Assessments, Cultural Heritage…
