Distribution Designer – Job Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Distribution Engineer or Designer to join our dynamic team in Florida. This role will support power distribution projects aimed at enhancing the reliability of power distribution in Southwest Florida.
ResponsibilitiesPerform engineering calculations and design work related to power distribution.
Work on projects involving new power runs to properties, relocating equipment, and converting overhead to underground systems.
Engage in the relocation of overhead lines and lighting systems.
Ensure quality control throughout the design process using tools like BOUD, Bentley Open Utility Designer, Small world, Maximo, and AutoCAD.
A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in power distribution design.
Experience in the electric utility industry with knowledge of primary and secondary distribution systems.
Proficiency in utility standards and design software packages.
Strong understanding of engineering theories and principles.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Skills & Qualifications
Ability to research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations.
General construction knowledge and aptitude.
Experience dealing with individuals from various socio‑economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Work is primarily conducted in the Riverview office. For experienced candidates, remote work may be considered. The role is part of a 200‑person power group in Florida, with a new, modern office located in Tampa. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
