Your role in this mission: We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Team Lead who is passionate about building scalable products, driving technical excellence, and fostering a culture of collaboration and growth. You’ll lead by example - balancing hands-on coding with strategic decision-making while guiding your team through the full product lifecycle.

What you will do

Together with your team, you will plan, develop, and operate one of our products. As a leader at Work Flex, you’ll combine hands-on technical work with people and project leadership across four key areas:

Technical Leadership
  • Lead by example through coding, reviewing, and providing technical guidance. We expect a 50/50 split for coding/managing from our engineering managers.
  • Shape architecture and design decisions to build scalable systems.
  • Mentor engineers and foster a culture of learning, innovation and knowledge-sharing.
  • Know how to utilize the modern way of working to its fullest. AI permeates all our products, internal tools and processes. We expect you to know what tasks can be delegated to agents and which ones cannot based on your experience.
People Management
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop top engineering talent. We aim for engineering teams of around 4-6 people.
  • Drive performance and career growth through regular feedback, goal-setting and motivation.
Project Management
  • Own delivery timelines and quality standards.
  • Align technical efforts with product and business goals.
Communication
  • Ensure clear, open communication and alignment across the team and with other engineering or business teams to promote transparency and knowledge sharing.
What you need to succeed
  • 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams.
  • Strong coding skills and passion for technology.
  • Proficient in Spring Boot, Java, Angular, Type Script, databases, and Dev Ops technologies.
  • Proactive and self-driven, thriving in a fast-paced, fully-remote environment. If you have not worked in a fully-remote setup before, be aware that managing a fully-remote work-from-home team will come with different challenges than on-site, especially regarding async workload management and burn-out prevention.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent in English.
