Job Description:
- The Senior Mechanical Stress Analyst will perform linear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluations for reactor systems and internal components.
- This role includes developing finite element models, ensuring compliance with ASME Codes and Standards, performing stress and fatigue assessments, and delivering clear technical documentation.
- The analyst will collaborate with customers and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely analysis outcomes.
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using ANSYS for finite element analysis
- Good understanding of dynamic analysis, stress analysis, and ASME Codes and Standards (Div 1 and Div
5). - 5+ years of experience performing analysis of mechanical components or parts.
- Ability to present analysis results clearly, concisely, and in an organized manner.
- Experience performing linear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluations
- Experience using ANSYS Workbench and APDL for model creation and evaluation.
- Experience with stress qualification to ASME Codes and Standards
- Experience managing project timelines, deliverables, and technical risk.
- Perform linear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluations to predict system responses and resulting loads for reactor systems and internal components.
- Create and evaluate analysis models using ANSYS Workbench and APDL
- Conduct stress qualifications to ASME Codes and Standards (Div 1 and Div
5) - Develop solutions that simplify analysis complexity while ensuring accuracy and effectiveness.
- Apply engineering fundamentals and first-order principles to verify system performance.
- Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks
- Liaise with customers in collaboration with engineering leadership and project management.
- Interface with cross-functional teams to complete system design activities
- Provide complete analysis documentation in accordance with internal engineering procedures.
- Review archived records and evaluate the impact of design or operational changes.
- Manage time effectively to deliver high-quality work within project expectations.
- Communicate status updates and identify project execution risks.
- Ability to work efficiently under project-based time and schedule constraints
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and use CAD tools to determine component properties.
- Strong proficiency with ANSYS finite element tools.
- Solid understanding of structural dynamics, stress analysis, and ASME Codes
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to prepare clear and detailed engineering documentation.
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
- Master s degree in an engineering discipline preferred.
- Nuclear industry knowledge or experience preferred.
