Job Summary:

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for collaborating with Department staff to develop comprehensive project scopes of work and perform cost analysis on a wide variety of facility maintenance, repair, improvement, and Capital projects valued between $1K and $20M. Work closely with and support Facilities Management, design, maintenance, and project management staff to develop timely and accurate initial Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM) and detailed construction estimates that consider all aspects and construction disciplines of projects, including materials, labor, equipment, time and other associated costs.

Responsible for assisting in the development of discipline/service estimators, developing and updating historical databases, and assisting in the development of department procedures.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Review, analyze and interpret project requests and Contract Documents (specifications, drawings, and reference information), conduct site visits, and review any relevant information to develop accurate, timely and comprehensive material, labor, equipment and time cost estimates for a wide variety of maintenance, repair, improvement, and Capital construction projects.

Work with Department staff to develop and prepare projects scopes and conceptual estimates for a wide variety of maintenance, repair, improvement, and Capital projects using limited preliminary design documents.

Collaborate with design and engineering staff, project managers, and supported ADOT divisions to understand project requirements on future maintenance, renovation and capital construction projects to provide rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates used for budget planning.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

* All divisions of construction and project development processes.

* Thorough understanding of construction contracting practices

* Maintenance and construction budgeting processes

* Construction project development, design, completion, close out and warranty processes

Skill in:

* Use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

* Use of various estimating software (Blue Beam, Procore, R.S. Means, etc)

* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.

* Excellent math and organizational skills

* Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills

* Use of Google Workspace

Ability to:

* Work independently and within a team

* Obtain, clarify, and provide information clearly

* Meet deadlines

* Strong customer service skills

* Balance workload and multi-task while working with minimal supervision

* Communicate clearly and assertively both verbally and in writing at a business level; interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations

Selective Preference(s):

Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction or Facilities Management or related field.

Five to ten (5
-10) years estimating new commercial construction and renovations.
