About the position

The Water Systems Analyst will execute the daily/hourly System Operating Plans and works collaboratively with others to operate, maintain or repair the water, wastewater, irrigation, and reclaimed water systems infrastructure to meet the Water Resource Division performance criteria.

(Anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $41.18/hour.)

Education and Experience
  • Completion of two years of college level coursework from an accredited educational institution.
  • Five years of experience in water/wastewater treatment, telemetry, water/wastewater maintenance, automated utility systems, or water/wastewater control systems.
  • Apprenticeship training in these areas will be considered toward the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience that meets the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
  • Preferred:
    College level coursework in electronics, telemetry, information systems or water/wastewater technology from an accredited educational institution.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
  • Must possess upon hire or promotion and maintain Grade 2 operator certifications from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in Water and Wastewater. The certifications must include one in Water Treatment or Water Distribution; and one in Wastewater Treatment or Wastewater Collections.
  • Must obtain within six months of hire or promotion, and maintain Grade 3 operator certifications from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality in Water and Wastewater. The certifications must include one in Water Treatment or Water Distribution; and one in Wastewater Treatment or Wastewater Collections.
  • Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during their active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
