The Electrical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) supports the planning and execution of building projects across a variety of market sectors, including multifamily, commercial, municipal, education, retail, and more. This role focuses on technical design support, coordination, and professional development under the guidance of licensed engineers and project leaders.
The Electrical EIT contributes to project delivery by assisting with electrical system design, documentation, coordination with other disciplines, and construction support. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer who is motivated to develop technical expertise, gain exposure to multidisciplinary building projects, and work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities Technical & Design Support:- Assist with the design of electrical power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage/specialty systems for building projects.
- Prepare electrical drawings, layouts, and documentation using Revit; assist with AutoCAD-based tasks as needed.
- Support the development of construction documents, specifications, and technical calculations under supervision.
- Research applicable electrical codes and standards and apply them to project designs with guidance from senior engineers.
- Identify electrical equipment and components and understand their basic function and application.
- Work closely with project engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary team members to support project schedules and deliverables.
- Assist with internal coordination and tracking of tasks, deadlines, and design progress.
- Communicate design questions, scope clarifications, and technical issues to project leaders in a timely manner.
- Participate in coordination with architects, consultants, and internal disciplines to ensure design alignment.
- Assist with internal quality control reviews and incorporate redlines and feedback into design documents.
- Support construction administration activities such as reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and assisting with field observations.
- Provide field and startup support under the direction of senior staff during construction and commissioning phases.
- Communicate professionally with contractors and consultants when directed by project leadership.
- Actively pursue technical growth, licensure progress, and professional development opportunities.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative team environment through clear communication and accountability.
- Seek feedback, ask questions, and apply lessons learned to future work.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, tools, and trends related to building electrical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification obtained or in progress (required or strongly preferred).
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in building systems design or a related engineering environment.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems for buildings and a foundational understanding of applicable codes.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Willingness to work a standard full-time schedule and travel occasionally for project or site needs.
