Overview

Join Severn Trent as an AWS Engineer and help shape our multi‑cloud future. As part of the Hosting Services team, you will design, deploy and manage AWS environments, working closely with our Azure‑skilled colleagues and supporting a hybrid, secure cloud architecture.

What You’ll Do
  • AWS Landing Zone & Governance – Build scalable, secure AWS solutions and manage account structures, security baselines and networking.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) – Automate resource provisioning using Terraform or AWS Cloud Formation.
  • Multi‑Cloud Integration – Design hybrid connectivity between AWS, Azure and on‑premise environments, including identity federation.
  • Security & Compliance – Apply IAM, encryption and unified monitoring best practices across AWS and Azure.
  • Monitoring & Optimization – Use Cloud Watch, AWS Config, Cloud Trail and Azure Monitor to optimise performance and costs.
  • Incident Response & Troubleshooting – Resolve cloud infrastructure issues and participate in on‑call rotations.
  • Collaboration – Work closely with networking, security and application teams for seamless deployments.

What We’re Looking For
  • Hands‑on experience designing, deploying and managing AWS environments.
  • Familiarity with multi‑cloud strategies – Azure exposure is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of security, automation and cloud best practices.
  • AWS Core Services: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, Cloud Front, Cloud Watch.
  • Networking: VPC design, VPN, Direct Connect, DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls.
  • Automation: Terraform, Cloud Formation, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Security: AWS Security Hub, Guard Duty, IAM policies, encryption, audits, regulatory compliance.
  • Multi‑Cloud Exposure: Azure fundamentals (Resource Groups, Entra , VNets, Express Route, VPN, Monitor).
  • Scripting: Python, Power Shell, Bash, or Terraform.
  • Monitoring: Cloud Watch and Azure Monitor.
