Structural Engineer

The Senior Structural Engineer 2 position demands over 20 years of experience in heavy industrial or power plant settings, or an accredited bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering along with a professional engineering license. This role involves providing structural engineering services and field support, preparing designs and calculations, conducting site walk‑downs of construction sites, developing cost estimates and material takeoffs, offering schedule and staffing input for projects, and producing and checking structural steel design calculations and drawings.

• Provide structural engineering services and field support.
• Prepare designs and calculations.
• Conduct site walk‑downs of construction sites.
• Develop cost estimates and material takeoffs.

• Produce and check structural steel design calculations and drawings.

• Detailed knowledge of structural steel and concrete design principles and industry methodologies.
• Significant structural steel connection design experience.
• Proficiency with structural codes and standards.
• Extensive knowledge of heavy industrial structures and components.
• Strong computer skills including proficiency with structural computer programs such as STAAD PRO.
• Proficiency with OSHA regulations.
• Ability to coordinate and manage multiple large‑scale, multi‑discipline projects.
• Capability to perform structural inspections and provide written reports.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff, and vendors.

• Experience with cost estimates and material takeoffs.
• Scheduling expertise.

The work environment offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work schedules. There is a willingness to travel to generation sites across AL, GA territory. The role involves engaging with various stakeholders in a collaborative setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Birmingham, AL.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
