Electrical Designer (Smart Plant Experience) - Burlington

Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting an Electrical Designer with Smart Plant experience to join the team at our Burlington office, as we prepare for many exciting new execution and study projects.
AboutThe Role
- Responsible for drafting and 3‑D modelling electrical systems for mining and industrial projects.
- Experience working within an EPCM environment is preferred.
- Ability to work as part of a team, applying skills to both new construction and renovation projects for drafting of power distribution, lighting and communication systems.
- Provide CAD drafting services to design team.
- Work under the direction of Electrical Engineers and Designers to develop working drawings from conceptual layout to detailed construction document packages for submission in AutoCAD.
- Lead the preparation of drawings and utilization of CAD‑aided design software for single‑line diagrams, motor schematics, wiring, general arrangement, distribution panels, grounding, lighting and cable tray.
- Lead the preparation of drawings for instrumentation and controls – loop drawings, PLC and DCS wiring, panel layout and instrument general arrangement.
- Create and maintain cable schedule and material take‑offs.
- Provide support for plotting and sending of electronic file submission.
- Document and communicate best practices for BIM, AutoCAD, Smart Plant and Revit applications.
- Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities.
- Other duties assigned as necessary.
- Provide on‑site construction support as required.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from a recognised college.
- 8–12 years’ experience drafting electrical, controls and instrumentation deliverables in an engineering environment.
- Working experience with Smart Plant is required.
- Preference for candidates with experience in electrical projects associated with buildings.
- Ability to work within defined schedules and deadlines.
- Ability to function well, either as part of a team or independently.
- Strong communication, analytical and time‑management skills.
- Fast learner of company‑specific techniques, standards and procedures. Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of the CEC and CSA Standards.

Salary range: $90,000–$115,000
Expected salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
